Antique Mahogany Vanity Dresser

10 26 022

Made sometime in the late 19th century this piece is not light. The heavy plate-glass beveled mirror alone weighs somewhere in the vicinity of 70 pounds. Thankfully the base has wheels so it’s relatively easy to move on flat ground but observational reports of the movers who brought it here suggests it too is pretty heavy.

But who really cares? Once this is in place . . . it’ll be stunning. Made of solid mahogany with dovetail joints it’s an impressive bit of cabinetry. As you can see int he pictures there are a bunch of drawers and a clever little lower (shoe?) cabinet under the mirror. There are a couple minor flaw. There are a few leopard de-silvering spots at the top of the mirror.  One of the points where the mirror mounts to the back has been repaired and there are a couple small, faint rings on one of the surfaces.  Overall though I’d say it is in very good condition.

It measures 62 inches wide, 24 inches deep and 73 to the top of the mirror.
